Widget & Android Auto
Control playback from your home screen, lock screen, and car — without opening the app.
On Android, SimpMusic exposes playback outside the app itself: a home-screen widget and a full Android Auto browser.
Home-screen widget
Add the SimpMusic widget from your launcher's widget picker.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Default size | 4 × 1 cells |
| Resizable | Yes, both horizontally and vertically |
| Placement | Home screen and lock screen |
| Refresh interval | 30 seconds |
The widget shows the current artwork and track, with playback controls inline. Tapping it opens the app at the Now Playing screen.
Because the system refresh cycle runs every 30 seconds, the widget can lag slightly behind very rapid track changes. Playback controls still act immediately — only the displayed state waits for the next refresh.
Android Auto
SimpMusic registers as a media app for Android Auto, so it appears in the car's media picker alongside other players. Browsing is organised into five top-level entries:
| Entry | Contents |
|---|---|
| Home | Recommendations — requires a connection |
| Songs | Your songs, library items first |
| Favorites | Liked songs |
| Downloaded | Tracks cached for offline playback |
| Playlists | Your playlists |
Voice and text search are supported, so you can ask for a track by name rather than browsing to it.
Offline in the car
Only Downloaded is guaranteed to work without a connection. The Home entry pulls fresh recommendations and needs the network, so on a drive without signal, download ahead of time.
