Lyrics & AI Translation
Synced lyrics from multiple providers, Spotify lyrics, and AI-powered translation.
SimpMusic shows synced lyrics from several sources and can translate them with AI.
Choosing a lyrics provider
Go to Settings → Lyrics → Main Lyrics Provider and pick one:
- SimpMusic Lyrics (default)
- YouTube Transcript
- LRCLIB
- BetterLyrics
Depending on the source, lyrics display word by word, line synced, or unsynced. You can open lyrics fullscreen, and optionally blur the background under Settings → Interface → Blur fullscreen lyrics effect.
Wrong lyrics?
Lyrics are matched to tracks by title and duration, so occasionally a song gets mismatched lyrics. You can switch providers, or upvote/downvote and rate lyrics from the player to help. See the FAQ.
Spotify lyrics
For more coverage you can use Spotify's lyrics. This requires a Spotify login — turn on Enable Spotify Lyrics under Settings → Spotify after signing in.
Sign in to Spotify
Needed for Spotify lyrics and Canvas.
AI translation (beta)
SimpMusic can translate lyrics using your own AI provider key.
Go to Settings → AI → AI provider and choose Gemini (default), OpenAI, or Custom OpenAI Compatible.
Enter Your AI API Key.
Optionally set a Custom AI model ID (e.g. gemini-2.0-flash or gpt-4o). For a custom
OpenAI-compatible endpoint, also set the Base URL and Headers.
Turn on Use AI Lyric Translation — this option only becomes available once an API key is set, and turns itself off if you remove the key.
Under Settings → Lyrics → Translation Language, enter a 2-letter language code (leave it empty to use your app language).
AI translation uses your own OpenAI or Gemini API key, so any usage is billed by that provider. The feature is in beta.
Help improve the lyrics database
Under Settings → Lyrics you can enable Help SimpMusic lyrics build the lyrics database to contribute your saved lyrics, and optionally add a contributor name and email. In the player you can also upvote/downvote and rate lyrics and translations.
