Getting Started
What to expect the first time you open SimpMusic — the home screen, the main tabs, and optional sign-in.
Once SimpMusic is installed, here's how to find your way around.
No sign-up required
SimpMusic opens straight to the Home screen — there's no onboarding flow or account wall. You can start listening immediately as a guest. Signing in is entirely optional and only needed for personalized content and a few integrations (see Accounts & Login).
Android: notification permission
On Android 13 and newer, SimpMusic asks for notification permission on first launch so playback controls can appear in your notification shade and lock screen. You can decline — playback still works, but you won't get the media notification.
The three main tabs
SimpMusic is organized around three tabs:
Home
Personalized feed — greetings, Quick picks, and recommendations from YouTube Music. Shows your downloaded music when you're offline.
Search
Search across songs, videos, albums, artists, playlists and podcasts, with filters for each.
Library
Your library — local & YouTube playlists, charts, favorites, downloads and podcasts.
While something is playing, a mini player sits just above the tab bar. Tap it to open the full Now Playing screen. See Playback & Queue for the controls.
Other places worth knowing
Beyond the three tabs, a few screens are reachable from within them:

Tablet & desktop layout
On tablets and desktop the tabs move to a navigation rail on the side, and in landscape the Now Playing panel can dock to the right of the screen.
Optional: sign in
You don't need an account, but signing in unlocks more:
- YouTube / Google — personalized Home and library, plus playlist sync.
- Spotify — Spotify lyrics and Canvas.
- Discord — show what you're playing via Rich Presence.
